Vision

We want to contribute to a safe and healthy environment for patient, employee and visitor by preventing healthcare associated infections (HCAI).

Why we do what we do:

In developed countries 7 out of 100 hospitalized patients get a HCAI¹.

Cause

  • Hospitals are risky environments
  • Microorganisms are becoming more resistant
  • Fighting microorganisms is becoming increasingly more important and complex
  • Hygiene is an important factor in preventing infections, in general hand-hygiene
  • Bed and matrass are after hand hygiene the most important factor
  • Risk of transferring infections via the bed increases, as technological developments of bed leads to more hand contact with the bed.

Effect (Figures EU, 2016²)

  • 2.6 million people get sick due to HCAI
  • 90,000 die
  • 16 million extra days of hospital stay
  • In the Netherlands alone, every year over 800 million euro is spent on extra care.
